Patrol Division

The Patrol division is comprised of Deputies, Sergeants
and a Lieutenant. The men and women assigned to the Patrol Division provide continuous service to the
residents of De Kalb County, 24 hours a day, and 7 days a week. These Deputies are responsible for ensuring
the Public’s Safety, while patrolling over 600 sq miles.
The Patrol Division provides numerous functions, but is not limited to:
Responding to emergency and non-emergency calls received by the De Kalb County Communications Center
Traffic enforcement and accident scene management
Serving various types of court documents
Assisting other Police agencies throughout DeKalb County
Providing security at Kishwaukee Community Hospital and Kishwaukee Community College
The Patrol Division also has specialized units. There are currently two K-9 teams, which are trained in
tracking, narcotics detection, building searches and evidence recovery. The Special Operations Team is
comprised of Deputies specifically trained in resolving barricaded gunman/hostage situations.
